ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police have released more details about the fatal shooting that took place Sunday in southeast Albuquerque.
Police have identified the victim as Frank Daniels, the brother of Marcello Daniels, 47, who lives in a unit at 11100 Gibson Boulevard Southeast. Marcello Daniels has since been arrested.
According to a criminal complaint, the caretaker for Marcello Daniels showed up to his residence around 10:30 a.m. Sunday and said Frank Daniels opened the door. The caretaker said she learned the brothers had been in a fight the night before and that it continued into Sunday morning.
The caretaker said Marcello Daniels told her that Frank Daniels had pistol whipped him the night before, and they started to argue again. The caretaker told police she broke up the fight, and that Marcello Daniels got up and grabbed a gun from under a pile of clothes. When the caretaker saw the gun, she fled and as she reached the front door, she heard a gunshot.
According to the criminal complaint, the caretaker told police both men were intoxicated at the time. Frank Daniels was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, and Marcello Daniels was treated for his injuries and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center. He has been charged with murder.
