Robber calls 911, accidentally confesses to crime

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – It started with a simple call to 911, but it wasn’t a call for help. It was an accidental confession.

“We basically robbed ’em dude,” the caller says.

That caller who probably pocket dialed 911 is Aaron Burrell, 37, according to Roswell police.

“Look, I know we should have gotten a lot more, but you know what my only thing is that we got away safe, clean,” Burrell says in the recording.

Detectives say Burrell, Marvin Myers, 30, and Yvonne Thyberg, 35, broke into a house on the 300 block of East Hervey Street in late September. After the heist, Burrell unknowingly made an emergency call to 911.

“Yeah, we picked up this f****** TV set, got ahold of it and we got it out of the house,” the caller says.

Details about where the burglary happened to how the three got away from the cops were all detailed in the call. Dispatchers rolled on the nearly 45-minute confession.

“An officer was sent to the address that they mentioned to check on the house and found indeed that it had been burglarized,” said Roswell Police Spokesperson Todd Wildermuth.

Police tracked the call to Burrell’s cell phone. They finally nabbed the three last week.

At one point during the 911 call, you can hear the three rocking out to Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive.”

Burrell and Thyberg are still behind bars. The charges against Myers were dropped. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
