ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The reward has grown again in the search for the killer of Albuquerque’s Tasmanian devil. The owner of Pizza 9 is now offering up a year’s worth of pizza to anyone who can identify the killer. They say they’ll give a pizza every week for a year if someone has a tip that leads to a conviction in this case. The reward that is being offered by Pizza 9 is not endorsed by the New Mexico BioPark Society.
The BioPark Society is offering $9,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible in the death of the Tasmanian devil and Crime Stoppers is offering a separate reward of $1,000. NMBPS has set up a security equipment and reward fund for individuals and businesses that wish to donate money. That money will go toward security upgrades if the reward money is not collected.
The Tasmanian devil named Jasper was killed last week after being hit by a chunk of asphalt. Investigators believe the attacker may have gone into a roped off area.
The city says surveillance video shows two boys and then a man leaving the area right before the zoo closed. Jasper was found dead the next morning.
