FBI reviewing traffic stop after allegations of excessive force

CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) – It appears the FBI is looking into allegations of excessive force by a Clovis police officer. In August, 26-year-old Jorge Corona was handcuffed after Officer Brent Aguilar said he refused to hand over his ID.

Video then shows Officer Aguilar slamming Corona to the ground. Two city officials said an FBI agent recently requested the investigative file on the traffic stop.

Corona faces misdemeanor charges of concealing identity and resisting arrest.

Officer Aguilar is on desk duty while the case is investigated.
