Pigs, Yoda, sea creatures and more take flight

Balloon Fiesta Thursday

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Special Shapes Rodeo was a go Thursday morning and thousands of people came to take photos, eat and watch as a frog, a dinosaur, a beagle and more were inflated for flight.

With schools out for fall break, a lot of students showed up to the park with their families before sunrise Thursday morning, crowding the park for special-shaped balloons like the blue whale, an owl, a shark and a deep sea diver.

Spider Pig was the first special shape in the air and carried the American flag over the crowd during “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Soon after, a wizard balloon joined the pig, along with Darth Vader and Yoda.

KRQE News 13 reporters and photographers, along with many spectators, turned to social media to share the event.
