ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s a tough blow for UNM running back Crusoe Gongbay. With an off the field incident behind him and solid performances on the field, Gongbay appeared to be on the road to a strong final season. However, an injury may have closed the door.

The bruising Lobo running back suffered a foot injury in his team’s 21 to 9 victory over UTSA Saturday. Gongbay will get an MRI to determine the extent of the damage.

“Crusoe’s got a significant foot injury,” said Lobo coach Bob Davie. “It very well could be season ending in which in his case is career ending here at UNM. We are going to MRI it. We are expecting the worse.”

Prior to the UTSA game Gongbay had rushed for 139 yards and 163 in back to back games.
