Lobos beat the odds with a win over UTSA

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Lobos are now 2 and 3 for the year. The University of New Mexico football team got a huge win in the Alamodome on Saturday against the University of Texas at San Antonio. The Lobos were 17-point underdogs coming into the game, but the Lobos silenced the pregame polls with an overall great game.

The Lobos started the game with Cole Gautsche, but he would have to leave due to a hamstring injury. The outstanding red shirt freshman Lamar Jordan would then take the reins and have himself a game. He put up 176 total rushing yards with a touchdown.

A big part of this Lobo win was accredited to the UNM Defense.

“I think you saw a young defense starting to come to life,” said Head Coach Bob Davie. “I think you saw a young program starting to come to life.”

It was a great win for the Lobos and great game for Jhurell Pressley who had 102 yards on 5 carries against UTSA. The Lobos will take on San Diego State University University Stadium in Albuquerque at 7 pm. Friday.
