AFD responds to southeast ABQ structure fire
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Fire Department responded to a structure fire in southeast Albuquerque Saturday. According to AFD, firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of Utah SE just after 5:00 p.m. When firefighters arrived on scene they could see smoke showing from the building. AFD has not indicated what caused the structure fire or if the building was occupied.
Expo New Mexico kicks off Fright Fest
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s Halloween at Expo New Mexico. Saturday marked the beginning of Fright Fest. There are several attractions at Expo New Mexico now including a haunted house, a harvest fest for the kiddos and even zombie laser tag. Fright Fest runs through November 4, 2014. It’s open from Wednesday through Sunday.
SB I-25 reopens after crash
*Correction: Earlier reports indicated that northbound I-25 was closed because of the wreck. News 13 has learned it is the southbound lanes that are closed.
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Southbound Interstate 25 is now open after a motorcycle crash forced police to close it at Cesar Chavez Saturday afternoon. The Albuquerque Police Department says the crash occurred when a motorcycle hit the center median and was ejected into the southbound lanes of I-25. The victim was transported in critical condition to a local hospital. Another rider on the motorcycle was also taken to a hospital. APD says both riders are in stable condition.
APD investigates triple stabbing
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a triple stabbing Saturday morning. Police say it happened at Imbibe Bar in Nob Hill. APD says all three of the stabbing victims had been involved in a fight which resulted in the stabbing. Police tell KRQE News 13 one of the 3 individuals was detained at the scene because they were believed to be the primary aggressor. All three of the victims are recovering from their wounds. The names of the people involved have not been released pending further investigation.
Missing man found dead
LA PLATA COUNTY, COLORADO (KRQE) – La Plata County Sheriff’s deputies say they’ve found the body of a missing man. Deputies say 32-year-old Henry “Hank” Haven’s body was found Friday morning in Hermosa Creek near U.S. Highway 550.
Haven went missing Monday night after leaving a gas station on foot. Right now, deputies are not calling it foul play. But if you have any information, you’re asked to call La Plata County Sheriff’s Department.
Corrections dept. seeks donated dog supplies
ALBUQUERQUE (AP) – The New Mexico Department of Corrections is seeking dog supply donations. Officials said this week they are asking residents for help with a program that allows inmates to care and train shelter dogs from the Animal Services Center of Mesilla Valley.
The animals get temporary housing and the inmates learn new dog training skills. Officials say the department is in need of blankets, dog crates and food bowls. The program is one of many aimed at training inmates with new skills. wi
