Play adapted from bestselling 'Nickel and Dimed'

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The play “Nickel and DImed (Or Not Getting by in America)” is based off the bestselling novel by the same name written by Barbara Ehrenreich.

When Ehrenriech wrote the book, she wondered if a middle-class woman could survive on $7 an hour. When she couldn’t make rent, she tried working and a chambermaid and waitress.

She thought she was prepared for the worst situations, but it turns out she was surprised by the truth of how little one can do when making $7 an hour.
