ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – New Mexico residents have been curious about the unusual light in the sky over the Albuquerque area. It is a scientific balloon.

The balloon is from the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Fort Sumner. CSBF is a NASA facility managed by the Physical Science Lab of New Mexico State University. The contract to manage the facility is administered by the Balloon Program Office at Wallops Flight Facility of Goddard Space Flight Center.

They launch large, unmanned, high altitude, research balloons for NASA centers and universities from all over the world.
