Heavy rain, flooding reported in SE New Mexico

New Mexico weather watches and warnings.

EDDY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Heavy rain is causing flooding in portions of in southeastern New Mexico.

Five inches of rain have been reported in Eddy County. There are still concerns of flash flooding Friday. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning until 4:15 p.m. Meteorologists say one to two more inches of rain is possible.

Additionally, 9.5 inches of rain has been reported in Loving New Mexico with rain still coming down.

KRQE News 13 Meteorologist Mark Ronchetti says the heavy rainfall is due to an unusually cold front from the north colliding with moist weather from the south.
