ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Today we could get a better idea about what will be on the ballot in Albuquerque this November. The Albuquerque City Council is set to bundle together three proposals, giving the council power to approve fire and police chief hires, change special elections and the GO bond issue money.   These are things supported by Mayor R.J. Berry. The council will vote separately on reducing penalties for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and increasing the sales tax by an eighth of a percent to fund assistance programs for the mentally ill.

In Albuquerque, construction on the Paseo Del Norte I-25 interchange reconstruction project should get back on track this week. When work begins, westbound drivers on PDN will be unable to turn onto Jefferson in either direction for at least a month. The Department of Transportation intends to get this portion of the work wrapped up in advance of the International Balloon Fiesta the first week of October.
