UNM Police: Bike thefts up

UNM Bike thefts
According to UNM PD bike thefts are up 70% since 2013.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico appears to be the place for bicycle thieves.

According to campus police, bicycle thefts increased by 70-percent during the last school year.

Police say it may have something to do with the new reporting system for bike thefts that kicked off in August of last year. The system makes it easy for people to report thefts online.

UNM is doing random security sweeps and registering bicycles.
