ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) According to the IRS, special agents were out on official business Wednesday morning at the Gold and Silver Exchange on Menaul Northeast and Louisiana.
However the agency would not specify what that official business was or why they were there.
People who know the owner didn’t know what was going on either, but say he is a ‘good guy’.
“He’s always been a nice, real nice neighbor and a real nice person.” A neighbor says, “David has always been a really fair guy and helps the community.”
This business has been in the news before. In February, police say the owner bought stolen coins and tried to sell them back to the victim, a priest.
Anita Manalo who was hired to clean the priest’s home is accused of taking $70,000 worth of coins and selling them at the Gold and Silver Exchange.
Police say the owner charged the victim thousands of dollars to get them back.
