Daryl Martinez faced a judge for murder charges. Police say he shot and killed another man for $1.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A 19-year-old accused of murder made his first court appearance Wednesday.

“I’m going to actually raise the bond to $250,000 cash only, considering the nature of the allegations,” said Metro Court Judge Michelle Castillo Dowler.

Daryl Lee Martinez is accused of shooting 28-year-old James Lucero on Harper, near the Nativo Lodge early Saturday morning.

According to police, Lucero purchased heroin from Martinez prior to the shooting. Martinez later accused Lucero of shorting $3 for the exchange. Lucero then gave Martinez $2, the only cash that he had on him.

Martinez was still upset over the $1 police say. He then followed Lucero outside then shot and killed him.
