ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It appears electricity is about to cost New Mexico utility users more. This morning’s Albuquerque Journal says PNM will ask for a rate hike by the end of the year. People are conserving power, meaning the utility is revenue it says it needs to recover from ratepayers. PNM has not said how much of an increase it will seek from the Public Regulation Commission in December.

Today Paseo Del Norte westbound from the I-25 job to Jefferson closes for the next 30 days. What else lies ahead for commuters at the Paseo Del Norte and I-25 reconstruction project could be known later today. The NM Department of Transportation abruptly canceled all scheduled closures on the job over the long Labor Day holiday with no explanation. Today the DOT is expected provide a project update.

Whether several issues will make it on the ballot in Albuquerque this November remains to be determined. Tomorrow, the City Council is scheduled to meet to discuss giving the mayor a bundle which would include three plans: giving the Council authority to approve or remove police and fire chiefs; amending the City’s special elections process; and  GO Bond money. If the council approves the bundled package, Mayor RJ Berry would then have to sign off on it.

Meanwhile, there’s an online petition with hundreds of signatures demanding Mayor Berry resign. The petition began after Berry vetoed a measure that would have allowed Albuquerque voters to determine whether to decriminalize marijuana.

Blowing up social media outlets this morning, is the story about stolen and leaked nude celebrity pictures. The FBI is now investigating who stole them and how.
