Surveillance video captures South Valley road rage

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It was a road rage incident where neither driver was about to let it go. Now one driver is in the hospital with serious injuries from being run over and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying the other driver.

“Obviously, the injuries the individual sustained from this altercation – no matter what they are – are not going to be worth getting into an altercation because of the way someone else was driving,” said Sgt. Aaron Williamson.

Both drivers were going southbound on Coors on Sunday afternoon when they said some choice words to each other.

Surveillance video captures the moments after the two drivers pulled into a Blake’s parking lot of Coors in the South Valley.

After they got out to exchange more words, the black truck made a u-turn and the white truck rammed into it.

“The [driver of the black truck] got out of the black truck and climbed into the driver’s window of the white pickup as it was driving off,” Williamson said. “Ultimately, he ended up losing his grip and getting run over,”

The driver who was run over is in critical condition, but is expected to survive.

“If you find yourself in a road rage situation, call 911,” Williamson said. “That’s what we’re there for. We can come and we can resolve the issue.”

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on the white truck to call 505-798-7000.

The white truck’s bumper fell off in the parking lot, so it should have front end damage.
