Stabbing suspect faces murder charges

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man accused of fatally stabbing a father this weekend was in court on Tuesday facing several charges including murder.

According to the criminal complaint, the incident happened 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Michael Fox was giving several people a ride home, including two children. During that ride, police say one of the couples’ infant became upset.

Fox, who was already agitated, pulled over so the parents could grab a bottle from the trunk. It was then that Fox drove off with the child, still inside.

Another passenger, who was still inside the car with Fox, said she tried to convince him to return the infant to his parents.

Fox agreed to meet up at a Circle K near Wyoming and Constitution to reunite the child with his parents. According to the complaint, when the parents arrived at the Circle K, Fox and the child’s father, Kenneth Boyd, got into an altercation. Fox then pulled out a knife, stabbing Boyd in the chest.

Boyd later died from his injuries.

Tuesday, Fox appeared before Judge Michelle Castillo Dowler who said, “Based on the nature of the allegations, I have read over the criminal complaint, based on the charges as well I am going to set the bond at one million dollars, I’m going to make it cash.”

Court records show Fox has a lengthy criminal background. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
