Sheriff Rodella faces another accusation

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Federal investigators have revealed another controversial traffic stop made by Rio Arriba County Sheriff Tommy Rodella.

Federal prosecutors said Rodella, who has already been indicted for allegedly roughing up a motorist in March, pulled over a 52-year-old woman two months earlier and threatened her.

The revelations were part of court documents filed last week.

In the documents, investigators said Rodella tailgated Yvette Maes at night without his emergency lights on. When he did turn on his lights, Maes pulled over.

Court papers said Rodella demanded to know why she didn’t stop sooner and after Maes questioned why Rodella didn’t just pass her, he allegedly threatened to take lock her up.

A lawyer for Rodella said he has not reviewed the filing.
