County seeks $4.5M for new animal shelter

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Bernalillo County will ask voters in November for $4.5 million for a new animal shelter and adoption center.

The county already has $1.5 million on hand, but needs bonds for the rest of the project.

The new center would include a 25,000-square-foot shelter with space for a veterinary clinic.

County officials say construction on the new shelter could begin early next year if voters give it the OK.
