Berrendo student to be transferred after threat

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A student accused of threatening a victim of the Roswell school shooting won’t be expelled, but moved to another school.

In January, Mason Campbell shot fellow students Nathaniel Tavarez and Kendal Sanders.

On Thursday, Berrendo Middle School officials learned of a threat against Tavarez.

Chaves County sheriff’s deputies say an eighth grader admitted to writing “I’ll finish off Nathaniel” on a bathroom wall.

The district said that student will be put in a different school within the district. When we asked the district why they didn’t expel him, they said they couldn’t provide further details.
