ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque Fire Department sprang into action and put out a tractor fire Monday afternoon.

Crews were called out to a Bosque fire near Montano and Rio Grande. But when crews arrived they found a tractor instead, engulfed in flames.

Crews worked quickly to put out the unmanned tractor. The fire had also spread to nearby brushes including trees.

After extinguishing the small blaze, crews worked to cut down trees in order to prevent the fire from sparking back up.

”A lot of the trees that were involved had hallowed centers, so there’s fire inside – so if we just left and we didn’t cut them up and fully suppress them we may be back out here today or tomorrow,” Lt.Brian Fox said.

Authorities aren’t saying who the tractor belongs to.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
