Repeat offender accused of stealing checks

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One of APD’s top repeat offenders will need a lot of cash to get out of jail again.

Timothy Romero, 47, is accused of breaking into cars and stealing checks and credit cards, then using them to buy thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Police say they found him with more than 100 stolen checks.

Romero was just arrested last month for breaking into several homes. He’s being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
