Police warn against texting, bank scheme

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police are warning New Mexico residents about a new trend they are calling a scam.

Police say someone has been texting people saying they are with Bank of America.

The text asks the person to call a phone number provided within the text.

Once the person makes the call, they are immediately informed by a recording that their account may have been compromised.

The person is then asked to input their personal information including their account number.

Police say those who get a similar message should delete it and not respond.
