Labor Day Closures and Events


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The following list includes known closures and events for Labor Day weekend 2014.

Albuquerque Closures:

There are numerous closures scheduled for the City of Albuquerque on Labor Day. Closures are as follows:

  • All City of Albuquerque offices are closed Monday September 1, 2014.
  • 311 Citizen Contact Center: Closed Monday September 1, 2014.
  • Albuquerque Buses: No service Monday September 1, 2014.
  • City of Albuquerque Community Centers: Closed Monday September 1, 2014.
  • City of Albuquerque Senior Center: Closed Monday September 1, 2014.
  • City of Albuquerque Health and Social Service Centers: Closed Monday September 1, 2014.

Santa Fe Closures:

All Santa Fe recreation centers will be closed Monday September 1, 2014. This includes the Chavez Center, Sal Perez, Fort Marcy and BC Pool. They will reopen Tuesday September 2, 2014.

Rio Rancho Closures: 

The City of Rio Rancho offices will be closed Monday September 1, 2014.


New Mexico Wine Festival: Bernalillo is hosting the New Mexico Wine Festival. Sample wines from wineries all over the state. Minors must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older. Tickets range from $5 to $40.

Seven Dollar Saturday Pet Adoptions: Saturday August 30, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is offering the public the opportunity to adopt adult pets at least 1 year old for only $7. Animal Welfare will launch the event to find loving homes for adult companions on Saturday, August 30, at the Eastside and Westside Animal Shelters and Lucky Paws in Coronado Mall.

Summertime in Old Town with Cornbread BluesSaturday August 30, 2014. Cornbread Blues will play a variety of styles from Chicago blues to Latin Pop. Event is free. Show begins at 6:00 p.m.

Summertime in Old Town with Kevin Herig: Sunday August 31, 2014. Enjoy live music in Old Town with Kevin Herig. This is a free event for all ages. Show starts at 2:00 p.m.

Fiesta de los Niños: August 30 and 31st. Las Golondrinas invites the whole family to enjoy a day of crafts, games and entertainment. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. Admission for adults is $8.00 and $6 for teens 13-18 years of age. 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Summer Music Series with Recurve:  Enjoy free live music with Recurve Sunday August 31, 2014. Music starts at 6:30 p.m. at Haynes Park.

Hatch Valley Chile Festival: Enjoy food, a carnival and arts and crafts at the Hatch Valley Chile Festival.
