Commissioners ask county treasurer to resign

DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Dona Ana County commissioners want the county treasurer to resign after an employee accused him of soliciting sex from her.

According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, Friday commissioners unanimously voted they disapprove of county treasurer David Gutierrez.

According to a complaint by a female employee, she says Gutierrez asked if she would spend a couple hours at a hotel with him in exchange for $1,000.

Gutierrez later confirmed the solicitation to county officials.

Commissioners say they cannot force the married treasurer to resign.
