The Torrance County wind farm delay puts funding on hold

TORRANCE COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A wind farm set to be built in New Mexico is in jeopardy.

The El Cabo wind farm was going to bring huge wind turbines like to this to Torrance County but it looks like it will miss a December 2015 deadline to receive tax credits.

The company says an issue with some transmission lines to California have caused the project to come to a standstill.

The delay will put in industrial revenue bond with Torrance County on hold. The company had agreed to give the county roughly $18 million over 30 years and the schools would get about $12 million.

The company is trying to figure out its options at this point.
