Insurance company gives out school supplies

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Blue Cross, Blue Shield is doing its part to make sure kids in Albuquerque get the supplies they need for school this year.

Today dozens of employees and volunteers handed out notebooks, paper, pencils and other essential supplies.

The group says equipping students with learning tools is the first step to kids having a successful school year.

Over the next two days the group will donate supplies to four local elementary schools, including Kit Carson.

“The Kit Carson community is always willing to help out and support our school anytime we need them, and its fantastic to have great support such as Blue Cross Blue Shield who are willing to step up and help out our school and community,” said Chris Sanchez, principal of Kit Carson Elementary.

Employees were able to buy 23,000 items to be distributed at nine different schools. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
