Alzheimer’s patients denied medical marijuana

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Thousands of New Mexicans who have Alzheimer’s will not eligible for medical marijuana.

The state health secretary has denied a petition to add Alzheimer’s and other kinds of dementia to the list of medical conditions eligible for the program.

The secretary has the final authority on which conditions can be added even if they are recommended by the program’s advisory board.

Supporters say marijuana could help dementia patients with sleep and other issues.
