Rain drenches parts of central NM overnight

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Scattered showers and thunderstorms made for some heavy rain, lightning and thunder in and around Albuquerque overnight.

Lightening struck a tree near Indian School and Moon on Tuesday afternoon. That caught a branch on fire and threatened a home for a short time, but firefighters put out the flames quickly.

Earlier in the day, the Sedillo Hill area got nearly 1¾ inches of rain in a downpour just before noon, according to Leroy Martinez.

Santa Fe also got wet on and off all day. Brad Jones said near Cerrillos and St. Michael’s Drive, the city racked up a little more than an inch of rain.
