EB I-40 closed at Laguna due to fatal semi crash

I40 Semi Crash

LAGUNA, N.M. (KRQE) – Eastbound I-40 is closed at mile marker 115 between Laguna and Mesita due to a crash involving two semi trucks.

State police officials said the crash happened around midnight as both drivers of the trucks were heading east. One of the drivers was killed. The driver and a passenger in the other semi were treated and released from the ACL Hospital with minor injuries.

It appears weather and speed were factors in the crash, police said. Heavy rain was falling at that time overnight.

Traffic is being diverted off Exit 114 at Laguna, and drivers should expect delays.
