LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – Four people were killed Wednesday after a twin engine aircraft crashed near Las Cruces.
According to New Mexico State Police the plane had just left the Las Cruces Airport en route to Phoenix, Arizona.
NMSP said the plane crashed just south of Interstate 10 near the Southern New Mexico Fairgrounds and burst into flames. Witnesses say the aircraft was flying at a low altitude right before the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating what led to the crash.
