Suspect in home invasion turns himself in

Luis Grajeda

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police say a suspect in a home invasion on the 3400 block of Wellesley turned himself in late Monday night.

Luis Grajeda Jr., who was wanted for his suspected involvement in an Aug. 15 home invasion that left one person dead, allegedly called police and was taken into custody by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department without incident.

On the morning of the home invasion, police said they responded to the home on Wellesley after reports came in that shots were fired. Officers said two people living at the residence were home when the intruders came in. One of the homeowners ended up shooting and killing one of the suspected intruders.

Following the incident, witnesses said they saw a man leaving the scene in a full-size pickup. Police say Grajeda told them Monday he owns the white Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was located by police at his residence at 10510 Del Ray Southwest. The vehicle will be searched once a warrant is executed.

Police say Grajeda was the last suspect they were looking for in the home invasion case. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
