Brothers get no jail time for dumping sewage

FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico man will not serve any jail time for dumping thousands of gallons of raw sewage on federal land in San Juan County.

Instead, 52-year-old Alex Wiggins of Farmington was sentenced in Federal court Monday morning to one year of probation and will be expected to serve 100 hours of community service.

Wiggins and his brother Anthony, who were the primary operator for the “A-1 septic Company”, were indicted in 2013 for these charges.

Investigators got a tip about black sludge on a county road. Hidden cameras later filmed the brothers dumping residential septic tank waste.

Anthony Wiggins was also sentenced earlier this year to a year of probation and restitution.
