UNM to expand online courses

University of New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – UNM is trying to reach more students across the world and they’re doing it with the click of a mouse.

According to the Albuquerque Journal UNM officials say one online course last semester drew thousands of students from nearly 200 countries.

So now, its increasing the number of massive open online courses o include architecture, curanderismo and a bilingual course.

UNM officials say it would normally take millions in marketing costs to reach the same number of people that the online courses have.

And that’s not the only thing that UNM is boasting about. The university came in at the top of a list by hispanicbusiness.com for Hispanic enrollment in post-graduate programs.

UNM came in fourth for business, sixth in engineering and 10th in law and medicine.

Hispanic Business reports UNM averaged a 31 percent Hispanic enrollment rate and also has one of the highest Hispanic faculty rates in the country.
