Football Friday: Part Three

Football Friday

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Belen Eagles will be taking home the spirit stick after garnering thousands of page views declaring them the winner. As News 13 continues with Football Friday, we take a look at Class 4-A and teams like Robertson, Bloomfield and Ruidoso.

The Robertson Cardinals left no doubt who was the top team in their classification last season. A 34 to 7 thumping of Silver did the job for the Cards in very frigid temperatures. They are 24 players strong with 11 seniors.

Ruidoso will start in this district as the favorite. The warriors have 20 seniors that have had success the last two years, making the postseason all the way to the semifinals in Class 3-A.

Head Coach Kief Johnson has a son that continues his reign of terror on the football field. Parker Johnson had more than 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He also had 6 interceptions on defense as the warriors went 8 and 3, falling to the Silver City Colts in the semifinals. Johnson is on pace to break a few state records this season. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
