WIPP testing continues following leak

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – More testing is going on at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad.

WIPP officials say they’re collecting extra samples from the underground facility where a radiation leak happened in February.

Samples from the waste drum investigators believe burst are being sent to a lab for analysis.

Investigators say they’re also taking photos and video footage of waste containers currently in the area where the leak took place.

A new camera system allows them to move from wall to wall to get the necessary pictures they need.
