Teen injured by lightning strike out of hospital

LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – One of the three Las Cruces eighth grade football players struck by lightning is out of the hospital.

The father of 13-year-old Demetrius Aguilera says his son was released Friday afternoon from the El Paso children’s hospital.

Officials say the most badly injured player, Hunter Keffer, has been upgraded from critical to serious condition.

The third teen, Zeke Gama, is said to be in good condition and an injured coach was released from a hospital after treatment.

The lightning struck near the school’s practice field Tuesday afternoon.

Practice has now been cancelled indefinitely.
