BCSO Deputy loses battle to brain cancer

BCSO Deputy Shannon Key passed away after battling brain cancer.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputy has lost his long fight with brain cancer.

Shannon Key was first diagnosed in 2007 with an aggressive form of the disease but after intense treatment and chemotherapy the cancer went into remission and he went back to work.

In 2013 doctors confirmed the cancer had returned and was more aggressive than ever.

News 13 was told Key died Wednesday morning he was a deputy for more than 15 years.
