APD unveils new mobile command center

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department showed off a new tool they say will help them during potentially dangerous crisis negotiations.

News 13 got a tour Wednesday afternoon of the new mobile communications command center.

APD says its crisis negotiations team had been sharing a small truck crammed with the tactical team’s equipment.

So the department is now using a much bigger truck that has been refurbished and equipped with new up-to-date technology.

APD says this will help their crisis team de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.

APD says the vehicle was purchased through a grant a few years ago. The overhaul cost about $12,000 which came out of the regular APD budget.
