Albuquerque man gets tear-gassed in Ferguson

FERGUSON, MISSOURI (KRQE) – As Ferguson, Missouri is experiencing chaos, an Albuquerque Freelance Photographer has been caught in the middle of it.

Leo York who runs the popular Facebook page “Inhabitants of Burque” was tear-gassed Monday night.

“I just couldn’t breathe,” York said. “I hit the ground because it felt like my lungs were gonna explode.”

As the video of York being tear-gassed is all over the internet, he has been interviewed by national and local media outlets.

York has been in Ferguson since last week capturing pictures and selling them to media outlets. He describes the riots as a war zone in America.

“You see it on the news all the time in the Middle East on another conflict, but in America you just don’t expect this to happen.” York said.

Protesters have been in the streets following the shooting of a teen that was killed by a police officer.

There were 78 arrests made Monday night and 16 of those arrests were people from out of state.
