ABQ father imprisoned for throwing baby

Philip Duran

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque father was put in jail Sunday night accused of causing a skull fracture on his baby after throwing her down the stairs.

A criminal complaint says Philip Duran got into an argument with his 5-month-old baby’s mother about not seeing the baby enough.

He was staying at a motel on Candelaria near I-25. According to the complaint, that’s where Duran beat the woman.

When she escaped, he took the baby who was strapped in a car seat, and flung her down cement stairs. A witness says Duran yelled, “Take your baby.” The baby suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed.

Duran is facing child abuse charges. He has been arrested twice before for aggravated assault.
