ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police say a home invasion suspect was shot and killed Friday morning in northeast Albuquerque.

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, officers responded to a shots fired call in the 3400 block of Wellsley NE just before 6:00 a.m. When officers arrived on scene they learned two residents had been victims of a home invasion involving two or three intruders who were possibly armed. During the invasion, one of the victims shot and killed one of the intruders.

Witnesses in the area say they saw a white truck leaving the scene shortly after the shots had been fired. Witnesses told police they saw a man jump into the passenger seat of the truck as it was leaving the scene.

Police are searching for:

  • White, two door, full size pick up (unknown make),
  • that appears to be lower than normal,
  • with a white sticker in the middle of the back window and white sticker on the left corner of the back window.

Police have not identified the victim or the offender who was killed. However, APD says it appears the victim and the home intruder knew each other.

APD is still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers or 242-COPS.
