APS COO, Ruben Hendrickson temporary superintendent

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – APS’ chief operations officer, Ruben Hendrickson, has been made temporary superintendent. The board will vote on an interim superintendent next week.

Executive Director for APS Communications Monica Armenta provided the following background on Ruben Hendrickson:

Hendrickson who has been in his current position in the APS Finance Department since December 2009, will oversee the district’s Facilities Design and Construction, Food & Nutrition Services, Maintenance & Operations, Risk Management, School Police and Student Transportation offices (Note: Hendrickson was made COO July 1, 2014 when Brad Winters retired).

Hendrickson, who holds a master’s degree in finance from Stanford University, was a finance manager and controller for Intel in Rio Rancho from 1990 to 2009.

As finance manager for Intel’s Fab 9, Hendrickson oversaw an annual budget of $400 million. As the process, systems, training and audit controller, he helped implement a new cost management system that tracked some $1 billion in spending for projects at the Intel plant. Hendrickson also oversaw finance group operations for Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Costa Rica sites as Intel’s Southwest Regional Controller for Corporate Services.
