ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A west side Albuquerque park now has a sophisticated piece of technology to help prevent crime.
A large device in the park is equipped with four cameras, flood lights and a PA system to help with security. It’s also hooked up to the city’s real time crime center.
That means if someone is committing a crime at the park authorities are watching it as it happens and officers can be dispatched.
The device at the park is replacing a temporary security camera that was installed last year and got damaged.
Officials say the city has three more of these devices which have placed through out Albuquerque. They are mobile and can be moved from place to place.
The devices were paid for with council district one’s set aside funds.
