NM school recognized for military program

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – Holloman Air Force Base and Alamogordo Public Schools are getting national attention.

A recent partnership between the two has resulted in what’s being called, one of the best programs for military children.

Military kids often have to pick up and move often, sometimes they are moving out of the country or in the middle of a school year.

Through the “student 2 student” program, kids and parents are enrolled in a network with other families making similar changes.

The aim is to make transitions a little easier for students. Alamogordo High School is one of only seven schools given the Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award by federal officials at the pentagon.

The district says it will implement the program into all of its schools.
