City seeks developer for Route 66 motel

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque is hoping a new developer will bring new life to an old Route 66 motel.

The De Anza Motor Lodge at Central and Washington was built in 1939.

After sitting vacant for years, there was a developer with plans to fix up the place. But earlier this year he pulled out of the project after a dispute with a federal agency that had to approve the plans.

Now the city is looking for a new developer.

Any potential developer can take a tour of the De Anza on September 10, 2014 and they must submit their plans by mid-February.
