Man killed in smoke shop shooting ID’d


ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police have identified the man shot and killed at a smoke shop, as 49-year old William Joseph Corrie. It happened Sunday afternoon when Corrie allegedly tried to rob a clerk at the Oasis Smoke Shop and Hookah Lounge on Menaul near Wyoming.

The store owner told News 13 that the robber left with cash but workers say Corrie came back threatening to hurt someone that’s when a clerk opened fire, killing Corrie.

APD says the autopsy revealed he was shot twice. Police say the shooter has been identified.

News 13 is told detectives are still working the case to determine if the shooting is considered self-defense.
