Woman accused of kidnapping, auto burglary

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police have arrested a woman accused of confronting a father and son and trying to kidnap the boy Sunday night at McKinley Middle School.

About 10:30 p.m., they got back to their truck from a walk at the school when a woman approached them asking for her son back.

Police say the woman is Melissa Martin and the family says they do not know her.

The son was already in the truck and as the man tried to get their dogs in too, police say Martin took the boy out of the truck and ran.

The man got in his truck and chased Martin and she put the boy over a chain link fence.

When the man tried to get his son, police say Martin got in the truck and started chasing the man and son down.

The two were not hurt and Martin got away.

Police eventually found Martin and arrested her on several felony charges including child abuse, auto burglary and kidnapping.
