Motorcyclist killed after colliding with bear

ANTONITO, COLORADO (KRQE) – A freak accident killed a New Mexico motorcyclist after he collided head-on with a bear in the middle of the road.

It happened just outside of Antonito, Colorado which is about 30 miles south of Tres Piedras, New Mexico.

Colorado state patrol says the 63-year-old man from Aztec, New Mexico was riding around Thursday afternoon when a bear was crossing the road and he hit it head on.

The cyclist was thrown from the bike and died.

The bear ran off into the woods and hasn’t been found.
